The History of The Inn on the Riverwalk

Our Victorian home was originally constructed in 1916 as a doctor's office and has since undergone a multitude of changes from an exquisite private residence to a multi-family apartment community in the 1970's and 1980's. Finally in 1990 a full renovation was completed and our beautiful Victoria made it's debut as Inn on the Riverwalk Bed & Breakfast and welcomed its first guests. room 11

Johanna and Scott bought The Inn on the Riverwalk in May 2007 and together have made the Inn their labor of love.  Continuosly renovating, upgrading, expanding and incorporating modern details that ensure a comfortable and welcoming stay for any San Antonio traveler.

Inn on the Riverwalk Today...

Nestled into surrounding trees and elevated just above the San Antonio riverwalk, guest of the Inn feel as though they are hidden away right in the heart of the city!  The path along the river leads from the tranquil atmosohere surrounding the inn, to the sites and attractions of downtown San Antonio.

Our dining room, where a full course breakfast is served each morning for our guests, is our Inn's heart and soul and has been renovated and remodled to meet today's standars of comfort and style.  French doors lead from the dining area to our river view dining terrace, where guests often choose to have their breakfast while enjoying the relaxing nature and sounds of the river.

Our rooms have been renovated to provide our guests with a welcoming and comfortable feeling.  We are so proud of the changes we have made and we are excited to be able to continually renew and upgrade all the time!  We offer croom 13omplimentary wireless broadband access as well FREE onsite parking for your enjoyment and convenience during your stay.

We are committed to providing you with the best accommodations possible and we look forward to having you come stay with us at our Inn!

Innkeepers / Owners

innkeepersScott Kiltoff along with wife, Johanna Gardner, purchased the Inn on May 15th, 2007, and have made a favorable impression with guests from all over the world.

Scott was the Texas Senior Pro-Rodeo #1 Bull Rider from 2007~09. He likes to put his muscles to work during the week being the all around handyman -- from fixing spa tubs that have accidentally sucked in a washcloth, to moving beds and furniture from one room to another to accommodate the guests as comfortably as possible. On the weekends he puts different muscles to work riding bulls either in rodeos for competition and/or practice pins all around south Texas. Scott became passionate about riding in his early 20's, but without time and money he put his dream of winning a buckle aside. After moving to San Antonio, Scott was determined to get the buckle of his dreams. Now he has more than he can wear. He's won over ten rodeos, Rookie of the Year 2008, and Overall Champion for 2007, 2008 and in Oct, 2009 won 5th place in The World Senior Pro-Bull Riding Association finals (the largest senior bull riding organization).

Johanna, on the other hand, puts her creative brain muscles to work as she is the advertising/marketing director for the Inn. She also has decorated the majority of rooms with her abstract artwork. She studied fine arts at Cornish College of the Arts in tjohanna's arthe fine art department for over 5 years where she started painting encaustic style. After either working at the Inn or with her other two real estate businesses, she retires to her garage art space with an iron in one hand and imported wax blocks in the other. After melting the wax either directly and/or dripping it onto the canvas, she navigates her way through colors of the rainbow finishing only when she intuitively feels it's done. Johanna also enjoys adding her creative flair throughout the Inn by inviting other local artists to show their work. In each room, you'll enjoy realistic to abstract works from a variety of artists. The artwork is available to take home as a great gift to yourself or others.
